9 – 10:15 Today's Athletic Fields

Mark Grundman, Jacklin Seed & Simplot Turf & Horticulture

10:30 – 11:45 Tree & Shrub Care on a Budget

Nicole Mason-Hendrickson — Bayer Environmental Science

Trees and shrubs are a big part of every campus yet often receive very limited care - if any. These plants have numerous pest problems throughout the year, but sometimes they don't require a pesticide to solve them. Nikki will cover tree and shrub care basics. This can help all of us take better care of these valuable plants on a budget.

12:45 - 2 Realizing Real Savings from a Preventative Equipment Maintenance Program

Larry Fisher, Shop Supervisor - The Engledow Group

This part of our program focuses on developing a preventative maintenance program. It is designed to significantly reduce repair and replacement expenditures. We'll cover safety, oil, filters, lubrication, belt tension, blades and other cuttign tools - along with recoil or electric starts. Designing a simple but consistent maintenance schedule will increase the longevity of every piece of equipment in your inventory.

2:15 - 3 Creating a Proper & Affordable Agronomic Program for Sports & Grounds

Bob Andrews, Owner - The Greenskeeper, Inc.

In this portion of our program, we'll look at the fundamentals of fertilization weed and insect control. We'll also examine the need for core aeration, disease control and other optional services available to improve the quality of your turf. Discussion will focus on proper timing of turfgrass treatments to get the most benefit from the products you're using.
